The Limousin Region
Forests & Fauna
Set among rolling hills and ancient woodlands, our B&B lies in one of France’s most beautifully preserved rural regions. Haute-Vienne is a place of space and serenity, where forests give way to open meadows and quiet roads encourage slow discovery. Here, nature is more than a backdrop—it is calm, generous, and deeply restorative.
The region’s rich biodiversity makes it a discreet paradise for nature lovers. Birdsong accompanies your mornings, and with a bit of luck, you may spot buzzards, kestrels, black kites, woodpeckers, and many other species thriving in the surrounding countryside. Just a short drive away, the historic Etang de Murat lies on a migratory route and offers a rare observation point for rare water birds, with a dedicated viewing hide overlooking the lake.
For guests seeking mindful movement, the area offers an extensive network of marked walking and cycling routes, ranging from gentle scenic strolls to longer immersive forest hikes - perfect for reconnecting with nature at your own pace.
Lakes & Waterways
Water shapes the rhythm of this landscape, bringing both tranquillity and quiet depth. The nearby Lac de Mondon, set in a green haven, invites peaceful walks, moments of contemplation, and calm outdoor activities. The lake is also known for its rich aquatic life, making it a discreet haven for fishing enthusiasts.
The Benaize River flows through the countryside and feeds the lake before continuing to stream through sculpted rock formations. Along its course, the spectacular “Pot Bouillant” reveals a powerful natural scene, where water cascades through narrow passages and ancient cavities carved by time. This hidden site offers a striking contrast between calm pools and vibrant rushing water - an inspiring destination for nature lovers and photographers alike.
Other waterways, such as the Anglin River and the historic Moulin de Seillant, add to the region’s poetic charm, where heritage and nature blend seamlessly.
Fields & Local Life
Our B&B is located in a small, discreet hamlet where rural life unfolds quietly and authentically. The Limousin countryside is defined by wide-open fields, small family farms, and the emblematic reddish-brown Limousin cattle grazing on lush pastures. This is a region untouched by mass tourism and heavy industry - an ideal setting for those seeking privacy, authenticity, and understated elegance.
The area is rich in heritage and stories. Nearby, the Dolmen de Bouéry - one of the largest in the department - stands as a mysterious prehistoric monument surrounded by local legends. The Château de Las-Croux, with its landscaped 19th-century park, historic stables, and elegant interiors, offers a refined glimpse into the region’s aristocratic past.
Local life is slow, grounded, and genuine - perfect for guests who appreciate quiet luxury, rural charm, and meaningful cultural discovery.
